On the sidelines of the Draw ceremony organized in Cameroon’s capital on August 17, 2021, a meeting between the AUB and CAF Officials focused on subjects of common interest to both institutions. The new administration of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is resolutely turned towards modernization and virtuous governance in all sectors of football in Africa. In this quest for excellence, several institutions are making significant contributions to the development of this sporting discipline which fascinates so many young people on the continent. The African Union of Broadcasting with its solid network of broadcasters spread across 54 countries is a partner for the CAF’s greater causes. It is with the aim of pooling efforts around football in Africa that the meeting between the AUB’s Chief Executive Officer, Grégoire Ndjaka and CAF’s Secretary General, Veron Mosengo Omba was held. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the draw ceremony organized at the Yaoundé Congress Hall, as a prelude to the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. During the meeting, AUB’s Chief Executive Officer seized the opportunity to extend warm congratulations to the CAF Top Management for the innovations already noticeable in the football sector on the continent. These important changes, which occur in the wake of the election of Dr Patrice Motsepe as head of the African football, have received the approval of many soccer players on the continental scene and beyond. In April 2021, the president of CAF launched the Inter-school Competition project for Africa, in order to promote football in our primary and secondary schools. In the near future, CAF will launch the African Super League which will bring together the 20 most powerful teams on the continent; an initiative which is highly welcomed by many African football fans. For the effective implementation of these innovative projects, CAF will be able to count on the support of the African Union of Broadcasting which has always brought added value to CAF competitions through the production, broadcasting of matches, training, promotion of football activities and the marketing of competitions. At the end of the Yaoundé meeting, the Officials of the two institutions promised to convene in the coming days, other working sessions in order to refine strategies for optimal media coverage of the next AFCON Total Energies, scheduled to take place from January 09 to February 06, 2022, in Cameroon.
